Lex van Roessel and Idskje Smits European Champion Tang Soo Do!

Friday September 22 41 Tang Soo Do-ka's left their homes for Schiphol where of 17 from Friesland.
Per Easy Jet we flew to Bristol.
In Bristol we lodged at the Holiday Inn.
The black belts had to attend the briefing before they could eat dinner.
Some turned in early and others stayed up until the early hours...

Saturday September 23 We where transported by bus to the other side of Bristol. there where over 550 contenders from 16 countries.
The advanced Gups had to warm up and prepare for Moogi Hyungs.
Bauke and Marja had to start directly: Dan Gum Hyung. Bauke made a good start and did a nice Dan Gum Hyung. Marja performed satisfactory and was the first to hit the podium for the Dutch team, but was a tenth of points short for the title: 2nd place.

Between competition Marja Photographed every Dutch movement.
It took some time before it was the Gup graduates time to perform.
The Dutch successes added up: in total the Dutch took 36 prices with them to the Netherlands:
7 European titles, 11 2nd prices 18 3rd prices. The Dutch team took the first price on creativity with a fantastic demonstration.

The 10 Tang Soo Do-ka's from Jip Kye Sohn from Harlingen and Sneek took 10 prices back to Friesland.
Idskje Smits (Harlingen) took an European title at Sparring. Lex van Roessel (Heeg) took an European title at the Hyungs.
Edwin Muurling (Sneek) won a 2nd price at Hyungs.
The Dijkstra family (Harlingen) performed well: Instructor Marja Dijkstra took a 2nd price at the Waepon Hyungs and a 3rd on sparring. Head instructor Bauke Dijkstra took a 3rd price at sparring and a 3rd price on Hyungs. Marijke Dijkstra won a 3rd price at sparring and a 3rd price at Hyungs and Jeroen Dijkstra took a 3rd price at sparring.
